Hello, my name is Ms. Colleen and I am the director at Kiddy Garden. I have dedicated 28 years of my career to Kiddy Garden, and I take immense pride in the work we do here. In addition to my role at Kiddy Garden, I am actively involved in our community through organizations such as Girl Scouts and various school initiatives. Volunteering is a passion of mine, and I find great fulfillment in giving back to those around me.

Outside of work, I have been happily married for 26 years to my supportive husband. Together, we have two wonderful daughters and two awesome dogs. I take great joy in attending my daughters’ sports games and school events, as their achievements bring me immense pride.

One of our family’s favorite pastimes is traveling, as we love exploring new places and creating lasting memories together. Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me and my family.

What inspired you to join early childhood education?

My love for child development and making a real difference in kids’ lives by giving them a great foundation for life through education and social interaction.

    In her own words

Starting when I was seven in my before-and-after-school program, I developed a love for teaching and building connections with children. I would always try to help my teacher when she was teaching the preschool kids. Whenever a baby was born in my family, I was the first to volunteer as a babysitter.

I believe in children’s abilities from a young age and in fostering their interests from the beginning. I have a special interest in coaching, especially youth basketball, and watching kids grow their skills and become more confident in themselves. I have three years of experience coaching youth girls’ basketball and have taken the team to the state competition twice.

What inspired you to join early childhood education?

I was inspired to work with kids not only because of the love they share but the adventure that every day comes with! Every day is a day to teach & also learn with the children.

    A little about me

Ever since I was a young girl I loved working with children & watching them grow. I believe the best way to help them learn is to scaffold & provide support when they need, and to let them practice & try new things on their own. I believe experiential learning is the best way to foster a child’s development. Just as adults, children are learning every day; being patient is the key to teaching new things!

What inspired you to join early childhood education?

From a young age I have always wanted to be a teacher. The amazing teachers I had growing up inspired me to care for the children in my care as much as those teachers cared for me.

    In her own words

I think a great early childhood educator is someone who can help children learn and grow in a way that best fits each individual child. I try to create bonds with each child to help them feel loved and valued.

I love to read and enjoy helping kids explore books and how books can take us to so many different places while never having to leave where we are.
